One Piece Heroines vol. 2 chase cards arrive damaged, a Wisconsin shop says
Beckett Castle TCG's report says EB-05's cases now read "Packing in USA," with the chase cards printed in Japan and packed here alongside US-printed commons.
Beckett Castle TCG in Caledonia, Wisconsin says every alternate-art leader, SP, Gold DON!! and manga rare it opened from the English edition of One Piece Heroines Edition vol. 2 had creases, corner bends, dents or punctures, across several cases with different serial numbers. Its list opens with a "massive crease" on an alternate art of EB05-055, from a set that only came out in English on Friday.
The shop's written report says EB-05's cases now read "Cards Made in USA and Japan, Packing in USA," because the commons through super rares are printed in the US while the chase cards are printed in Japan and shipped over to be packed with them. Beckett Castle calls that split a potential root cause. It adds that the first card in a pack comes out sticky enough to lift with a fingertip. By its count the hits land unevenly too, with some cases holding no SPs and others six or more.
Collectors in the r/OnePieceTCG thread that reposted the shop's photos reported more of the same, from an SP Boa Hancock with a dent in the top to a case with no SPs at all.
Every card in vol. 2 is in the interactive binder on our Heroines vol. 2 card list.
The first English copies have already set a floor. Since Sunday, Reiju's SP has sold raw for $150 to $233 and the Yabuki Nami alt art for $25 to $80, mostly around $26 on TCGplayer, while three raw Nico Robin Super Leader alt arts went for $1,199 to $1,300 there.
As much as I love One Piece, I'd wait for the first PSA pop counts on EB-05 before buying raw singles. A raw vol. 1 chase card was a fair bet to come back a 10 with 85%+ gem rates for the top 3 chases in Vol 1. However, with the early shenanigans from Wisconsin, nobody knows yet whether vol. 2's chases will hold up after a trip through a US packing line.
