Editorial policy
CardWire is an independent newsroom. These are the rules we follow in everything we publish.
Prices
Sales
Any listing sold on a marketplace we track is considered a "completed sale." We report on the final price, date and marketplace and capture a record of the sold listing.
Estimates
For cards without a
Beta, we will post a value range as an estimate.
Confidence
Every
will carry a confidence level of High, Medium or Low, based on how much recent market activity backs it.
- High
- Plenty of recent sales back the value.
- Medium
- The value draws on a mix of recent and older activity.
- Low
- The value rests on limited activity. Use it as a rough guide.
We'll publish the full definitions with version 1.0.
Grades
We price each grade on its own. When we compare grades, we show both prices and when each sold.
Auction fees
Auction prices include the buyer's premium and exclude shipping and marketplace fees.
Supply
A claim about how many copies exist cites dated PSA population counts.
Sources
Links
Facts link to their source when the source is public.
Other outlets
When a fact comes from another outlet's reporting, we always cite and provide credit to the original author.
Prediction markets
Prediction markets are meant as additional data inputs to the card markets they are correlated to.
Injuries
We report injuries a team, league or player has confirmed. We don't speculate about injury risk unless there are prior reports.
Independence
Ownership
CardWire is owned by its founders.
Affiliate links
Some links to eBay and Polymarket pay CardWire a commission. Affiliate income never dictates what cards we post or stories we write.
Photos
Credits
We credit photos and videos to where they came from, such as the auction house or marketplace for a listing photo.
Takedowns
If a photo or video we ran is yours, email editor@cardwire.com and we'll take it down within one business day.
Mistakes
We fix factual errors in the story and note what changed. To report one, email editor@cardwire.com with a link to the story.
