CardWire is published by CardWire LLC, 2108 N St #17581, Sacramento, CA 95816. This policy says what we collect when you read the site or subscribe to the newsletter, what we do with it, and how to change or delete it.

Reading the site

You can read every page of CardWire without an account. We do not ask you to make one. When you read, our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps ordinary server logs for a short period: the address your device connects from, the page requested, the time, and the browser type. We use those logs to keep the site running and to find faults.

Behavioral and Usage Analytics

We use Mixpanel to record which pages you open, which modules you use, which links you follow, and your browser's user agent details, which describe the browser and device you use. Mixpanel assigns your browser a random identifier and stores it on your device so that repeat visits count as one reader. We use this to learn which parts of the site people read and which they skip. We do not sell it. If you subscribe to the newsletter while analytics are on, we link your analytics identifier to your subscriber record, so we can see what subscribers read. Your email address itself is never sent to Mixpanel.

If you decline analytics cookies, analytics are turned off. Nothing is recorded about your visit and nothing is stored on your device for analytics. We count the decline itself, as a number with no identifier attached.

You can change your answer at any time from the Cookies link in the footer. If you withdraw consent, analytics stop. We tell Mixpanel to delete the profile tied to your browser and to forget the identifier.

The CardWire newsletter

If you subscribe, you give us your email address, but we never store it. We pass it to Omnisend, (or similar marketing automation service) which handles your personal data. CardWire does not keep a copy of your address on its own systems, does not log it, and does not put it into analytics. Omnisend holds it under its own privacy policy and sends the newsletter on our behalf.

Every email carries an unsubscribe link. Using it removes you from the list. If you want your address deleted from Omnisend rather than only unsubscribed, email jeff@cardwire.com and we will do it.

What we do not collect

We have no accounts, no comments, no purchases, and no payment details. We do not collect your name or anything about what cards you own. Links from CardWire to auction sites and marketplaces take you to those companies, whose own policies then apply; we hold no part of any transaction.

Cookies and storage

CardWire sets no cookies until you accept analytics. Your consent choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the name cw-consent, so the banner does not ask again. After you accept analytics, Mixpanel stores its identifier in your browser. The Cookies page lists each item by name.

Who we share with

Vercel, which hosts the site and keeps its server logs; Mixpanel, which runs analytics after you accept; and Omnisend, which holds the newsletter list and sends the email. We do not sell personal data and do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep things

Server logs are kept by Vercel for its standard retention period and then discarded. Analytics data stays in Mixpanel, unless you were a newsletter subscriber and you ask to delete it. If you aren't a newsletter subscriber, we will not know anything about you. Your email address stays with Omnisend until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

Children

CardWire is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from a child. If you believe a child has subscribed, email us and we will remove the address.

Your rights

If you are a newsletter subscriber, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing jeff@cardwire.com.

Governing law and disputes

This policy, and any dispute arising from it, is governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any dispute is resolved by binding arbitration in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on an individual basis, as the Terms of Use describe.

Changes

If this policy changes, newsletter subscribers will be notified via email and the date of this document will be updated to reflect the new policy.
