Anthony Edwards' Knee Surgery Could Cool His Silver Prizm Before a December Return
His Silver Prizm PSA 10 sold for $1,297 on Tuesday morning, hours before ESPN reported he could miss up to two months.
Anthony Edwards will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and could miss up to two months, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday, a night after Edwards scored 47 points, 11 of them in overtime, in a 127-125 loss at Cleveland. Team sources told the Star Tribune the Wolves hope to have him back sometime in December.
Collectors had already paid up for his start. His 2020 Panini Prizm Silver #258 rookie in PSA 10 sold at a median of $991 from Oct. 1 to 19, then $1,252 from Oct. 20 to 26 as the Wolves got off to a 3-1 start.
Some of that should come back out while he sits, because nobody needs to pay hot-start prices for a player who isn't playing. But the Wolves went 12-9 in the games he missed last season, and anyone selling now is selling a player the team hopes to have back before the new year.
Minnesota traded for LaMelo Ball in June, and the Star Tribune says he figures to take on a larger role while Edwards is out. His 2020 Prizm #278 rookie in PSA 10 sold at a median of $61 in October, up from $40 in May before the trade.
I'd bid around $1,000 on an Edwards Silver PSA 10 through November, about where it sold earlier in the month, and I'd want it in hand before he's cleared. I'd also grab a LaMelo Prizm PSA 10 under $70 now, before the larger role shows up in his box scores.
