LeBron's Rookie Card Cooled Off Before His First Sixers Game
Collectors paid up after he chose the Sixers in July, then started selling his 2003 Topps rookie well before Tuesday's debut at Madison Square Garden.
LeBron James's 2003 Topps rookie in PSA 10 has slid from about $7,500 in August, the month after he chose Philadelphia, to around $6,100 in October.
His 2003 Topps Chrome rookie has fallen further than the base card. A PSA 10 has gone for around $12,900 in October, below the $14,094 it sold for in the weeks before he picked the Sixers. The cheaper 2003 Upper Deck Rookie Exclusives has held near $950 in PSA 10 since the signing.

The signing has done more for his new teammates, with Tyrese Maxey's 2020 Prizm rookie in PSA 10 going from about $65 before July 24 to about $115 in the five weeks after.
Even after the slide, the 2003 Topps PSA 10 still goes for more than double the roughly $2,500 it sold for last October.
We'd wait for the first sales after Tuesday's game against the Knicks before paying $6,000 for a PSA 10. So far the best way to bet on LeBron in Philadelphia has been Tyrese Maxey's rookie.
