The Neo Genesis Lugia Has Doubled in PSA 9 Since February
A PSA 9 of the 2000 holo sold for $4,800 on Oct. 17 after selling for around $2,050 in January and February.
A PSA 9 of the 2000 Neo Genesis Lugia holo sold for $4,800 on eBay on Oct. 17. The eight PSA 9 copies that sold in January and February went for $1,680 to $2,355.
The climb started long before the anniversary rush. From May through August, PSA 9s sold for $2,325 to $3,300. The four that have sold since Sept. 27 brought $4,000 to $5,000. The PSA 8 rose with it, selling around $700 in February and around $1,875 in October.

Every PSA 9 sale of the Neo Genesis Lugia in 2026
The fresh attention on Lugia arrived with 30th Celebration. The anniversary set went on sale Sept. 16 with a reprint of the Crystal Lugia from 2003's Aquapolis. Weekly sales of Lugia cards of every kind went from 2,759 in the week before release to 6,374 in the week of Oct. 5. Because the set left the Neo Genesis card out, collectors who came back for Lugia and wanted the 2000 art had to buy the original.
Supply at the top grades is thin. As of Oct. 17, PSA had graded 12,755 copies of this card, with 495 in a PSA 9 and only 15 in a PSA 10.
With four PSA 9 sales in three weeks, a single eager buyer can set the price. We'd expect the next copy to land in the same $4,000 to $5,000 range as long as Lugia buying holds near its October pace. A collector who wants one should bid at auction rather than take a Buy It Now near $5,000.
