Jalen Hurts Collectors Are Already Dumping His Rookie Card
The Eagles said Monday that Hurts has blood clots in both lungs and is expected to miss the season. A PSA 9 of his 2020 Prizm Silver rookie sold for $92 hours after the diagnosis, below the $109 it was going for earlier in October.
The statement from the Eagles and Hurts's agent, Nicole Lynn, gives the diagnosis as deep vein thrombosis with clots in both lungs. ESPN reports he's expected to miss the rest of the season.
His 2020 Panini Prizm Silver rookie, #343, was already sliding before Monday's news. A PSA 10 sold for $330 at auction Sunday night, three days after the Eagles first ruled him out with a clot in his calf. No PSA 10 had sold that low since a $324 copy in February.
The first full week of sales since the diagnosis is the test. If PSA 10s keep closing under $330 through Oct. 26, the card will be at its cheapest in a year.
