CardWire Live Host (Breaker)
CardWire is the front page of the card market. We launched in September to track what moves card prices across sports and TCG, starting with the NBA, NFL, MLB, Pokémon, and One Piece.
We also have product to open. We're looking for a host to run CardWire's breaks on Whatnot.
- Trial
- Two paid streams
- Pay
- 35% of profit, up to 50%
- Floor
- $55 for a stream that doesn't profit
- Where
- Remote, reports to the CEO
The opportunity
This is one of the first hires at CardWire, an early-stage startup in the card industry. You'll report directly to the CEO, Jeff.
The role grows as the channel grows. Your profit share starts at 35 percent and can grow to 50 percent once the stream is established and you own the audience. You'll also get more say in what we buy and how we run the channel.
The job
You'll host CardWire's live breaks on Whatnot. We supply the product. You turn it into sales on stream.
That means planning the breaks, pricing the spots, filling them, and keeping the chat going while you open product. A good stream sells out its spots, gets buyers coming back, and makes money on the product we bought.
What you'll do
- Run scheduled streams, at set times each day/week, so buyers know when to find you.
- Build and price the breaks. You decide the format (random teams, pick your team, hit drafts, and so on) and the spot prices that sell out while still making a profit.
- Open every pack on camera and call the hits as they come.
- Grow the channel with regulars, giveaways, and shout-outs. We can collaborate to make short-form clips of the best hits for social.
- Promote CardWire on every stream. Send viewers to cardwire.com and to CardWire on Instagram and X.
- Manage fulfillment. Pack and ship every hit, track each shipment, and handle buyer questions and problems until the card arrives.
- Track every stream: product cost, sales, fees, shipping, and profit.
What we give you
- The product, bought and paid for by CardWire
- A branded CardWire channel on Whatnot
- Shipping supplies
- Profit-share on every stream
How we'll measure it
We look at profit per stream first: what the breaks sold for, minus the product, fees, and shipping. After that, we look at sell-through, meaning how many spots fill and how fast, and whether buyers come back and followers grow.
Ground rules
- Every pack gets opened on camera. Nothing gets swapped or held back.
- Hits ship fast, packed right.
- Follow Whatnot's seller rules and the rules for breaks where you live.
Who we're looking for
- You've hosted breaks and live sales before, on Whatnot, Fanatics Live, or somewhere else. You can show us one. If not, you can point us to other live content you've made.
- You're comfortable on camera for hours and can keep a chat moving when the product runs cold.
- You know how to price a break so it fills and still makes money.
- You know sports cards. Pokémon or One Piece is a big plus.
- You're organized about inventory, shipping, and your own numbers.
Pay and hours
- Profit share: 35 percent of each stream's profit, growing up to 50 percent once the stream is established and you own the audience.
- Base: $55 for any stream that doesn't turn a profit. A profitable stream pays the profit share only.
- Schedule: you tell us how many streams a week you can run.
- It's remote. You stream from your own setup.
The trial
The trial is two paid streams on product we supply, on the same terms as the role: 35 percent of the profit, or $55 for a stream that doesn't turn one. After two streams, we'll look at the numbers together and decide whether to keep going.
How to apply
Email jeff@cardwire.com or DM @Cardwire_ on X with a link to a stream or other live content you've made. Then answer these:
- What sealed product would you ask us to buy for your first streams, and why?
- Which category would you run: MLB, Pokémon, or something else?
- What kinds of breaks would you run?
- How many times a week can you stream?
